Coates Pinot Noir 2010

No longer available

Description

The hand picked fruit for our 2012 Pinot Noir was sourced from the Gumeracha region of the Adelaide Hills. The fruit is certified organic, but we have made a decision to remove reference from our labels as there is a fair bit of ‘faux organics/biodynamics/natural wine’ going on and Coates Wines would rather be know as a quality producer foremost. The Pinot was 20% whole bunch fermented with the balance crushed and destemmed across a selection of four clones. A natural yeast fermentation proceeded over a period of two weeks before pressing and transferring to French oak barriques (Nadalie, Remond and Seguin-Moreau Grand Cru) of which 25% were new. Maturation was over the course of 16 months with two rackings. The wine was bottled in July 2013 unfined and unfiltered (the wine will throw a fine deposit and a crystal or two). Tasting Notes Bright garnet in colour, the nose provides elegant cherry and strawberry fruits accompanied by savoury notes. The light-bodied palate offers delicate forest fruits intermingled with cinnamon and mocha accents. Technical Information Alcohol – 13.5% by volume Residual sugar – <1.0 g/L pH – 3.55 Sulphur Dioxide – 90 mg/L Total; 28 mg/L Free Production – 220 dozen Recommended to accompany Duck Carpaccio with Pomegranate, Rocket and Black Garlic.
