Fennel is an excellent digestive and breath freshener, valued for its comforting and balancing effects. Hampstead Tea's unique infusion blends fennel seeds, liquorice root and peppermint leaves to help regulate the digestive system. Producer Hampstead Teas came to life in north London in 1995 when its director Kiran became friends with Rajah, owner of the Makaibari tea estate in India's Darjeeling province. Much of Hampstead Tea's blends come from this estate, and some of the herbal blends come from small growers in Egypt. All Kiran’s outstandingly pure teas are grown according to fair trade principles, and the price you pay for the teas ensures that a premium goes directly to the growers and their families, used by the community for social, economic, educational and medical improvements. The herbs are dried slowly, preserving their essential oils. The Makaibari tea estate was the world's first certified biodynamic estate, and the last one in the district to be managed directly by its owner. But most specifically, 66% of its land is lush, undisturbed rainforest where tea grows in harmony with the area's natural ecological system.
