Pine nuts are the edible seeds of pine trees. They are small, soft and creamy in texture. Also known as pinon, pinolos, and pignole. Pine nut kernels are excellent in stir-fries, tossed in a salad or in a stuffing. A light roasting brings out their natural rich flavour and creates a crispy texture. Eaten raw the nuts have a creamy soft texture. Pine nuts are a favourite ingredient in pesto.
